The Raven Activity Archives

WCW Monday Nitro: Backstage Altercation: Raven vs. Bam Bam Bigelow and Diamond Dallas Page: (5/31/99) - It shows the World Championship Wrestling logo and then cuts to a parking lot. Raven is shown walking through the parking lot wearing a 'Hellboy' shirt by Mike Mignola which is an excellent comic book. As he walks out, he is pummeled by Bam Bam Bigelow and Diamond Dallas Page, who beat him viciously and throw him into a dumpster. At this point, DDP grabs Raven's arm and slams the lid down on his shoulder. This is the on-camera explanation for Raven's shoulder injury. Raven is then said to have been taken to a hospital.

Backstage Segment: Mike Tenay interviews Saturn and Kanyon - Saturn and Kanyon arrive at the Houston Astrodome. Mike Tenay informs Saturn and Kanyon that Raven has been taken to the emergency room and that DDP and Bam Bam Bigelow are to blame. He also tells Saturn and Kanyon that DDP has asked for a tag team title match that same evening on Nitro. Saturn agrees and Kanyon agrees to be Saturn's partner as they will defend the titles under Raven's Rules. Tenay says he is off to inform the Executive Committee so they can make the match.

Backstage Altercation: Kanyon vs. DDP and Bam Bam Bigelow - Kanyon is shown being laid out on the floor by Bam Bam Bigelow, obviously unconscious. Bam Bam and DDP make snide comments in regards to Kanyon and congratulate themselves on their actions. It is later revealed that Kanyon has also been taken to the hospital.

Tag Team Title Match: Saturn vs. Diamond Dallas Page and Bam Bam Bigelow - Pre-match, Saturn (wearing tights, instead of a dress) refused to forego the match, despite having both his partners attacked that evening. Page and Bigelow honored his request. Although Saturn gave a strong showing, he eventually got leveled by his stronger opponents. Saturn survived an unbelievable amount of punishment, but refused to surrender the pinfall. When Page tried to end the match with the Diamond Cutter, Saturn struck with a new wave of offense, and connected -- on both men -- with the DVD. Enter Kanyon. Released from the hospital, Kanyon ran from the ring and grabbed the tag. But instead of equalizing the contest, Kanyon was downed by a Page sucker punch, actually a discus punch that knocked him out cold. Weak from his hospital stay and still wearing a hospital ID bracelet, Page covered the weary Kanyon for the three-count. 1 2 3 - WCW has brand new tag team champions and Raven's tag title reign ends after 3 weeks and one day.

WINNER: New TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS, Diamond Dallas Page and Bam Bam Bigelow

Raven then cut a speech where he said his mom gave him a guilt trip for beating up lil' Rey Jr. and Kidman, so he gave Riggs and Enos fair warning that he was going to beat them severely. Raven and Saturn's tag team work in this match was very fluid. Saturn had his left shoulder heavily padded during this match. Raven and Saturn then executed "Total Elimination," Saturn's old tag team finisher in ECW. Riggs and Enos got the best of Raven for a while after that high spot.
