PWTorch.com is reporting today that the WWF has made Raven, currently with ECW, a contract offer. About a month ago, Paul Heyman offered Raven his full release from ECW, an offer he accepted. However, he has yet to be presented with a copy of the release to sign yet and make it official.
Raven met with Jim Ross on Friday, where he was offered a contract, explaining why he missed the ECW TV tapings in Milwaukee that night. He did, however, work the TV tapings in Chicago the next night. Raven is still contractually bound to ECW through August. Once Raven signs the release, he would be free to go to the WWF, as the Radicals did from WCW back in January.
Raven worked with the WWF in the early nineties as Johnny Polo, manager of the three-time Tag Team Champions, The Quebecers, Jacques Rougeau and Carl "Pierre" Oulette. Ironically, Oulette recently signed with ECW just as Raven appears to be making his exit.
Raven first became a star in ECW as the long-time rival of Tommy Dreamer. Raven held the ECW World Title twice and the ECW Tag Titles on three occasions, twice with Stevie Richards and once with Tommy Dreamer. While in WCW, Raven also captured the US Title and the Tag Titles (with Perry Saturn) one time each. Raven also held the old WCW Lightweight Title back in 1992, as Scotty Flamingo, defeating the late Brian Pillman.
Raven has managed gold in the WWF but has never actually won gold in the WWF, where two of his former championship partners now reside. If Raven signs on the dotted line, could he once again be teamed with either Stevie Richards or Perry Saturn for a title run?
